Set your browser security so it does not accept 3rd-party cookies (at least the Medium level on Internet Explorer). Cookies are pieces of information that websites use to track who you are as well as track things that you’ve been searching for.

Do not confirm or trust applets, plug-ins or ActiveX components that are not signed or are signed with invalid certificates. You will typically see this in your web browser when you visit a website that uses ActiveX or other plug-ins.

Do not click/open links, images or attachments from unknown sources
A good rule of thumb is if you are not expecting something and it’s not coming from a trusted source, do not open links, images or attachments.
